Behavioural Support

Behaviour therapy focuses on identifying behaviours of concern and understanding their functions so that strategies can be developed for the families. These strategies can help to reduce or eliminate the identified behaviours.

Whilst behaviours of concern can present differently for everyone, our therapists believe that all behaviour occurs because a client is trying to communicate their needs. As such, our therapeutic approach aims to develop alternative and appropriate ways for our clients to do so. This approach typically focuses on both behaviour management and building the client’s capacity in a variety of ways.

After the function of the behaviour of concern is identified, our therapists will then provide training to family members or other professionals so that the strategies can be applied to the target behaviour in the natural setting.

Our therapists can also provide an NDIS behaviour support plan to the family (see Positive Behaviour Support Plan for more details).
