Autism Spectrum Diagnostic Assessments
APSuccess offers a comprehensive Autism diagnostic assessment package for parents who have concerns regarding their child’s development. For a comprehensive diagnosis, APSuccess psychologists are trained to use the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R) and the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2), which is considered the Gold standard for Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis.
What is the ADI-R and ADOS-2?
The ADI-R is a structured interview protocol used for diagnosing autism spectrum disorder. This interview focuses on a combination of a participant’s developmental presentations as well as their current presentation. The ADI-R focuses on content such as the participant’s language, play and social skills, as well as behavioural concerns.
The ADOS-2 is a semi-structured, standardised assessment of communication, social interaction, and play or imaginative use of materials for individuals who have been referred because of a possible diagnosis of autism. The activities allow the examiner to observe behaviours that have been identified as important to the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. This assessment is divided into five modules to assess children and adults at different developmental levels and chronological ages.
